I read this article this morning about how supermarkets are suffering in the recession but warehouse clubs are doing better (to read the article, click
here). It makes me sad because if people knew how much they could be saving by simply using coupons and stockpiling, they would shop at the supermarkets. Don't get me wrong, warehouse clubs have their place. I buy diapers and wipes for my kids there, as well as bread and milk (which rarely have coupons), and gas for my car and my grill. But, I have found that for pretty much everything else, I can get it really cheap or even free if I combine my coupons with the weekly sales ad at my local grocery store. SAVE MORE! That's my motto. I'm happy to share how I do it one-on-one, so contact me if you need some tips.

Good stuff. I have found that the best prices on diapers, wipes and formula in my area are at Target. Target brand baby items are usually half what they are at regular stores.
Just got my blog up and running at http://www.pennywiseprovider.blogspot.com.
Stop by, take a look, and let me know what you think.
Thanks,

I've gone down this path before on my own blog, but my family's problem where we live is that it's a tourist attraction and firstly, we only have 2 chain and 2 local grocery stores and one of the chains doesn't do sales when tourist season 'is in' and the 2 local stores have a lot of freshness issues when it comes to meat, dairy and produce. I do still checkout their fliers and try to get in for the 'good stuff' but for basic needs we end up at the same old store, so for us, the Sams' club (a 1.5 hour trip) is where we end up about once every 2 months for the big stuff, which we do save a lot of money on.
You are right though, there are some things that you can save much more on by buying at the local stores, especially with the coupons.

I agree. Warehouse stores do have their place. But for the average family the membership prices and bulk prices are a bit much. You'd be much better off finding deals in the local grocery stores, even though it can be very time consuming!
